This is my first bash at uploading something to the new website. I hope to improve as I go along!!
At last Wednesday’s meeting members entered over 60 digital images into an Open League competition. Experienced judge Paul Parkinson traveled from Sidcup and despite the large quantity put before him he gave each image due consideration and offered lots of useful editing tips and advice on composition. Most members agreed that the suggestions made by Paul would strengthen their images and they appreciated the technical editing solutions he offered.
Towards the end of the evening Paul had some tough choices to make when it came to marking such a wide variety of genres. He began by scoring and then whittling 60 plus images down to a shortlist of just a dozen, ranging from wildlife, nature, street, land and sea scapes, reportage and creative photography. After much deliberation he chose three winners all scoring 20 and awarded two highly commended certificates. He commented that his shortlisted images were all worthy winners but his personal preference swayed his final decision.
The winners scoring 20 were
Sandra Littlejohn with ‘Sleeping Butterfly’ Jo Court with ‘Rave at an Anti Trump Demonstration’ and Adam Pleasance with ‘Bath Time’
The highly commended certificates were awarded to Wendy Kennett for ‘Hebridean Storm’ and Lyn Gregory for ‘Handle with Care’
