Distinctions

As well as the competitions that take place within the club, there are other external Competitions and Distinctions that any photographer can think of achieving.  Click on the links below for more information about each one listed.

PAGB

"The Awards for Photographic Merit (APM) are open only to members of Clubs affiliated to the PAGB through their Federations and are at three levels.  The awards are held for life without any annual fee and holders are entitled to use the designated letters after their name."

 

There are three levels of Distinction.  Credit, Distinction and Master.  For Credit you need to submit 10 images.  For Distinction,  15 images, and for Master 20 Images.  Each image is judged independently.  

Credit (CPAGB) -  Standard: Good Club Photography

Distinction (DPAGB) -  Standard: Open Exhibition Photography

Master (MPAGB) - Standard: Highest Standard of UK Amateur Photography

BPE

"The BPE exists to encourage photographers to enter exhibitions and to recognize successful entrants via the issue of the Crown Awards photographic distinctions. Exhibition members share ideas, promote each other's exhibitions and generally work together to promote competitive photography."

 

BPEs are Exhibitions held over the counry at which you are invited to enter at roughly £1.50 an image.  For every image acceptance you will earn 1 Crown.  For 25 Crowns you will earn the first level ... BPE1, for 50 Crowns you will earn the next level BPE2, ... and so on.

"The RPS offers three levels of Distinctions which set recognised standard of achievement throughout the world: Licentiate (LRPS), Associate (ARPS) and Fellowship (FRPS).  Both members and non-members can apply for Distinctions (non-members will need to join The Society if they gain a Distinction)."

 

The Royal Photographic Society offers distinctions which are recognised world-wide.  They consist of submitting a cohesive panel of images (a panel of 10 for Licentiate, 15 for Associate and 20 for Fellowship).  The RPS hold regular Advisory days all over the country for those wishing to submit a Panel for a Distinction.  Click on button on left for more information and examples of successful panels.

FIAP

"Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique, or FIAP, is an international organization of national associations of photography. More than 85 national associations are members, comprising nearly one million individual photographers."

 

FIAP is similar to BPEs but is International.  There are different levels to achieve, AFIAP, EFIAP and MFIAP.
